Our Philosophy on Treating Pain through Physical Therapy

Our Philosophy on Treating Pain through Physical Therapy

There are many ways that pain can be treated. Medication is usually the most convenient but can also be one of the most dangerous and unproductive forms of treatment. While pain medication may be part of a treatment plan, it likely shouldn’t be the sole source of relief.

At Wertz Orthopedic Physical Therapy, we believe that the source of the pain should be determined and treated. Meaning if we can identify WHY there is pain, then we can treat the core reason, not just mask the pain

When You Should Seek Medical Attention for Pain

When You Should Seek Medical Attention for Pain

Patients often use different types of descriptors to qualify their pain. Some pain feels like a burning or throbbing sensation, while other pain can feel like a stabbing or shooting sensation. Regardless of what it feels like, the pain you experience should not be ignored completely.  The question we often get from patients or people considering physical therapy is, “If not all pain requires medical attention, then when should I seek medical attention?”

Why Pain Should Not Be Ignored

Why Pain Should Not Be Ignored

Most people think of pain to be a bad thing, but pain is actually a warning sign to tell you that something isn’t right. While not all pain requires immediate professional attention, some types of pain are indicators that we need to seek medical attention immediately. Each of our bodies is different and responds differently to pain. We need to have a good understanding of what pain is, how we should react, and when we should seek professional medical attention.

Physical Therapy As It Should Be

Physical Therapy As It Should Be

While it might feel like there is a physical therapy clinic on just as many corners as Starbucks, we are fully committed to making our patient’s experience tailored to their individual needs. Our clinic is not part of a big chain or corporation; we are privately (and locally) owned and operated.  We love servicing the community that we grew up in.  So, where did it all begin for Wertz Orthopedic Physical Therapy, and why?
